The Spanish player wants to help bring trophies to Anfield.

Liverpool knew that when they brought Thiago Alcantara to Merseyside from Bayern Munich that they had acquired a proven winner. On a club level, Thiago has won it all with Bayern and Barcelona before that. His mentality mixed with his skill and work ethic are exactly the combination that the Reds were looking for in their midfield.

Thiago had a rocky first season with the club. Injury plagued him and the whole team, forcing them to make a heroic last minute push just to crack the top four. However, times have changed, and with a refreshed and healthy squad of teammates around him, Thiago has his heart set on bringing more glory to Liverpool.

“Well, I have the same feeling I’ve had in every team I’ve played, which is to aim as high as possible,” he said.

“That means to win every competition possible: the league, Champions League and the cup competitions too. That’s always been the objective. I’d say there’s no difference between this year, last year and the one before that.

“We want to win everything and have that hunger to not just win every competition but to win every game.”

Despite the deflating draw against Chelsea to cap off August and usher in the first international break, there is still a renewed sense of anticipation and confidence in this team and what they can accomplish together. Right now, as fall approaches and the season really looks to get under way, nothing seems out of reach. Premier League, Champions League – even with the hulking specters of Manchester City and PSG looming in the distance, it all feels attainable at the moment.
