23-year old Portuguese midfielder Renato Sanches is being linked with Liverpool once again. Goal’s Neil Jones suggested that he was in the lineup of midfielders being surveyed by the club, as he is “enjoying something of a renaissance with both Lille and Portugal”.
Now French newspaper L’Equipe has mentioned that Liverpool are “very interested”, as are Arsenal.
Sanches shone in the Euro 2020 tournament while playing for the Portuguese national side, featuring multiple times in the team’s lineup.

This had led to a resurgence of interest in the player from clubs around Europe. His current club Lille are said to be trying to “reduce their workforce” according to L’Equipe. They have sold Boubakary Soumare to Leicester, Mike Maignan to AC Milan, Rominigue Kouame to Troyes and Adama Soumaoro to Bologna.
According to L’Equipe, Liverpool are already in talks with Sanches’ representatives about a contract worth €4.5m annually for five seasons, with an offer of €35m being prepared.
Sanches has previously played in the UK for Swansea, and had an unsuccessful spell at Bayern Munich. He found success at Lille however, after joining them for €25m in 2019. The most recent report linking him with Liverpool surfaced in February 2021, suggesting that he was destined for Merseyside.
