Liverpool are on the verge of signing former Newcastle midfielder Lee Clark’s son, Bobby.

Liverpool FC is set to add another promising youngster to their youth ranks. According to the Liverpool Echo, the Reds are nearing an agreement with Newcastle United to bring 16-year-old winger Bobby Clark to Merseyside.

Despite his youthfulness, Clark is highly valued by the Magpies. He broke into their U-18 team in 2019 at the age of 14, much to the delight of his father Lee, who played 265 matches for Newcastle over two stints in the 1990’s and 2000’s.

“My son Bobby, got called up to the Newcastle U18 team which is a fantastic achievement considering he’s only 14 years of age. He’s doing well and he’s being coached and taught well by the people up there,” said Lee at the time.

Bobby’s meteoric rise through Newcastle’s youth ranks has caught the attention of some of football’s heavyweights with Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich all reportedly showing interest in the youngster.

Should the deal indeed go through, the younger Clark will join up with Marc Bridge-Wilkinson’s LFC U-18’s. Though he would be unlikely to feature with the first team for a few years, it’s always encouraging to see that Liverpool is a desired destination for youth players amongst stiff competition from other top clubs across Europe.
