Fabio Vieira has been attracting attention from the Premier League clubs.

In the wake of Gini Wijnaldum’s departure for Paris Saint-Germain, midfield depth has been the subject of discussion for Liverpool, as the summer transfer window warms up. 21-year old midfielder Fábio Vieira of FC Porto is the latest to be linked with the club.

According to Portuguese paper Correio da Manha, Liverpool are among those monitoring Vieira’s future. Vieira’s contract at FC Porto is set to expire in 2022, and he has apparently turned down discussions about an extension.

His potential move is rumoured to be accompanied by a permanent move to Porto for Marko Grujić, the 25-year old Serbian midfielder who is currently on loan at the club from Liverpool.

Porto are keen to permanently buy Grujic this summer. However, Liverpool are seeking around £15 million for him, and they are subsequently said to be weighing their options.

Vieira was awarded the Player of the Tournament award at the 2021 UEFA European Under-21 Championship held in Ljubljana, Slovenia earlier this June. He made 29 appearances for Porto last season including a Champions League start against Manchester City. He is said to be associated with a fee of €20 million (£17.2m). A youth player at FC Porto, since 2008, he won the Primeira Liga with the club in 2019-20.
