Nine people died and another 19 were injured in the incident.

The cousin of Liverpool midfielder and Guinean international, Naby Keïta, has survived a bus crash. Reports on the accident indicate that he was traveling with his soccer team, Étoile de Guinée, on the team coach. It appears that there were brake problems, causing the vehicle to crash into a tree.

Initial reports from European news outlets had suggested that Naby Keïta’s brother was not just involved but that he was amongst those who had passed away in the accident, though updates from those on the scene confirmed that it was in fact Keita’s cousin who was involved and that he was one of the survivors.

“I am shocked, sad and heartbroken at this terrible news,” read a message from Keïta on Instagram following the incident. “My sincere condolences to the #etoiledeguinee team and to Guinean football. May their souls Rest In Peace.”

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp was asked about the accident at his pre-match press conference but with details still unclear at the time he made no comment on the situation. Our condolences are with the relatives and those affected.
