The Liverpool forward narrowly missed out on the Golden Boot this season.
Despite the well-publicized struggles for the Reds this season, Mohamed Salah was a standout performer throughout.
The Egyptian brought his overall goal tally for Liverpool to 125, the twelfth-most in club history. He scored 22 Premier League goals and lodged five assists, narrowly behind Harry Kane’s 23 goals.
In all competitions, Salah scored 31 goals for Liverpool in 47 appearances (all but four in the starting lineup). He scored a goal for the Reds every 143 minutes. He scored all eight of the penalties he stood to take, and had a total of six assists in all competitions from an xA of 15.28 — which reminds us just how often Liverpool failed to score this season from good opportunities.
Salah was named in the 2020/21 PFA Team of the Season as a result of professionals’ votes. He was last in the Team of the Season in 2017/18.
This year’s Team of the Season is heavy in the Manchester clubs, with Tottenham’s strike partnership joining Salah as the only non-Manchester names on the list: Ederson, Joao Cancelo, John Stones, Ruben Dias, Luke Shaw, Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan, Bruno Fernandes, Harry Kane, Mohamed Salah, Son Heung-min.
