In 104 appearances for Liverpool, Mohamed Salah has 100 goal involvements to his name. Mo joins an elite group of three other Reds who have achieved the same feat: Michael Owen, Robbie Fowler and Steven Gerrard.
Jürgen Klopp was asked about Salah’s production stats at Friday’s pre-Burnley press conference and wasted no time in praising all of his star forwards.
“Didn’t we say something similar about Sadio a few days ago? It’s incredible. We would not be where we are if these boys did not perform on this consistent high level and Mo, of course, come on, his numbers are crazy, absolutely crazy,” said Klopp.
“He’s involved in 100 [Premier League] goals since he is here, 73 [goals], 27 [assists]. Just outstanding numbers, world-class numbers. Nobody should be surprised any more because the boys show that week in and week out [for] a while already.
“We know that it’s special but there’s a lot of work and you can only score if you invest that in each game, if you are in the right positions and do the right thing, and that’s what the boys were always ready to do and what they have to do still. And then it will continue. Long may it continue, that would be great.”
Salah could have more goal involvement opportunities against Burnley but I wouldn’t mind the Egyptian starting on the bench. Same for Roberto Firmino. Bring Mo and Bobby on in the second half at Anfield if necessary but otherwise keep them fresh for Arsenal. And then Chelsea.
Sadio spent most the match at Brighton on the sidelines so he should be good to go again. I know the Origi experiment didn’t pan out against Aston Villa but Origi works in mysterious ways. He could be the difference on Saturday. That’s part of his charm.
