Neco Williams and Harry Wilson both suffered a loss that knocks Wales out of the European Championships

It’s not always a great time playing for your country.

Neco Williams and Harry Wilson haven’t had the easiest of times at Liverpool. It seems the plan is for both to be sold this summer. It seems Williams didn’t do enough to convince Klopp with his chances to impress last season, while Wilson has been on two loans now with an obvious eye to shifting him out the door.

While the personal heartbreak of getting knocked out of the Euros is surely worse for them, they’ll also have a 4-0 defeat to Denmark on their CV. After a very good group stage performance, this was a horror show from Wales. Rob Page’s side conceded in the first half and never looked like getting back in the game afterwards. It has to be said neither Liverpool player acquitted himself well.

Williams made a dreadful clearance straight to Kasper Dolberg for Denmark’s second. The youngster has made defensive errors before that unfortunately seem to be part of his game. The ability is obvious, and I’ve no doubt he’ll improve in this regard, but he has to do so quickly. Unfortunately, he just gave any prospective buyers a front row seat for the biggest flaws in his game.

Wilson, too, had a tough day. He came on after an hour and didn’t really make an impact on the game at all, before getting himself sent off in the 90th minute. It was clearly out of frustration, but that doesn’t change the fact it was a stupid challenge and he can’t have that many complaints. All in all, a very tough day to take.

The pair likely don’t have a future at Liverpool, but they’re going to need to sort themselves out to get a move they want. It’s hard to take any positives here from a Liverpool perspective.
