Atletico Madrid have received an injury boost with a pair of returning strikers fit to face Liverpool.
Atletico Madrid have been dealing with injuries and poor form in recent weeks but appear to have received a major boost with Diego Costa at least expected to be fit to make his return from a long injury layoff on Tuesday.
However, with Costa having missed around three months of action due to a hernia, the 31-year-old being fit enough to play may be a long way from him being fully match fit. Still, it’s a much-needed boost for manager Diego Simeone.
He will be further boosted by the availability of striker Alvaro Morata and defender Jose Giminez. Both were fit to make the bench on Friday when Atleti faced Valencia in La Liga action, with Morata making a late cameo appearance.
Speculation, then, might have the 27-year-old Morata now ready to start up top against Liverpool while Costa is on the bench to give Simeone an additional striking option should it be needed against the defending champions.
However, while the returns of Morata, Costa, and Giminez are certainly good news for Simeone and Atleti as they prepare to face Liverpool, star youngster Joao Felix remains sidelined as does fullback Kieran Trippier.
