After two months focusing on domestic competitions, Liverpool return to Champions League action as they kick off their knockout Round of 16 tie against Serie A’s Inter Milan from the San Siro, with the second leg set for Anfield in three weeks.
Liverpool were perfect in the group stages, winning all six of their games despite being drawn into the consensus toughest group in this season’s Champions League. Since putting their Champions League campaign on hold they have continued that good form with six wins, two draws, and a loss in the league while they have advanced in the FA Cup and are scheduled to play in the final of the League Cup.
Opponents Inter Milan came second to Real Madrid—who they lost to in both games—in their group and after a slow start to the domestic season hit top form before the end of 2022 to establish themselves as presumptive favourites. However, 2022 has been a struggle so far with just one win from four games.
